The
key to making great films is understanding your audience. We
tailor content and production style to the platform on which it will be
viewed, and the location the viewer will be watching it - on
location on a mobile phone, or at home in front of the television or PC.
Broadcast TV
Our focus is factual programming. Our
team has extensive experience of documentary production for broadcast
media.
Recent
commissions include a 6x30 series for The History Channel and History
Channel HD, 'My Favourite Place'. The series takes
the
viewer on a trip around some of Britain's most iconic Heritage sites,
and includes: Bill Bailey at Stonehenge; Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen at
Eltham Palace; Neil Oliver at Hadrian's Wall.
As
part of the multi-platform commission, we also created a series of
short films linked to each location featured in the series.
These
are available to watch online (on both the History Channel and English Heritage websites), and
can be downloaded for watching on mobile phones and other mobile video
devices. Click here to view some examples of Ballista's films.
Internet Video
Once a film has been produced, we edit and encode the video for delivery via the internet. This can either be in the correct format to download or stream direct from a website, or can be formatted for distribution via a service such as iTunes. We can also create distribution channels - via YouTube, GoogleVideo, or even a standalone IPTV channel (BallistaTV is one example of this).
Projects include the development and
production of a series of over 20 short films and video guides for
English Heritage (available online via EHTV), and a series of
downloadable video guides for the Jorvik Viking Centre in
association with York City Council.
We
also have experience of producing information and promotional
and films - recent productions include a fundraising film for
Seaton Delaval Hall for the National Trust.
Mobile Video
We
specialise in producing video content designed to be viewed on
location, either as a standalone guide, or as part of a multimedia
guide. Ballista has created a series of London
Mobi-Guides - location relevant content for visitors to
London. For the Jorvik Viking Centre we produced a series of walking guides
around the city walls, and for English Heritage we have produced a
Battlefield Mobile Video Guide for the Battle of Hastings site click here for more
information.
The market for watching video on mobile devices is significant and growing rapidly. Over 90% of new mobile phones and 70% of the current market are capable of playing video in addition to the wide range of other mobile devices capable of playing video (iPod, iTouch, Sony PSP....). |
